His piano garnered Woody many friends, especially the ladies. Still, he temporarily abandoned the '88' because, at his young age, it was just too tough to backpack a piano. He took up the horn, joining a drum and bugle marching band. In a wink of an eye however, he found that pretty girls did not tag alongside trumpet players who tootled John Phillips Sousa tunes. He returned to the keyboard in short order.
